Senior Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer, P.E.
This position is: Full Time
Position Location: Baton Rouge, Covington, Houma, Lafayette, LA

T. Baker Smith is currently seeking an experienced Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer with a proven track record of success to serve as a discipline lead on several small to medium size projects. ​The candidate must have proven experience in the design of industrial facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficient in the design of medium and Low Voltage Switchgear and Motor Control Centers, PLC computers for control and automation.
  • Specifying instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, flow elements, control valves, etc.
  • Planning work and meeting deadlines without supervisor action.
  • Capable of checking drawings and calculations.
  • Being able to specify/select various types of instruments.
  • Develop instrument wiring and interconnections to the various facility control systems. Knowledge of low voltage power distribution systems, area classification and motor control circuits is preferred.
  • Interfaces with drafting to develop, review, and PE stamp drawings (if applicable).
  • Supports the effort to prepare proposals by preparing a list of deliverables and an engineering estimate for his/her scope of work.
  • Capable of representing his/her discipline in internal project meetings.  Ability to be client facing and represent discipline for project or kick-off meetings.
  • Visits job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
  • Performs engineering calculations and develops analysis models for more complex projects with limited supervision.
  • Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions, bid tabulations on simple purchases, reviews vendor drawings for compliance with specifications, and reviews & approves technical specifications.
  • Prepares drawings such as Wiring Diagrams, Motor Schematics, Plot Plans for conduit & cable routing and Conduit & Cable Schedules, etc.
  • Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project.
  • Works closely with engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure timely completion of projects. 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10-15 years’ experience
  • P.E. required
