The Challenge
An industrial client required an accurate assessment of sludge build-up in a 35-acre discharge pond, where traditional survey methods were prohibited due to unknown chemicals and safety concerns.
The Solution
TBS deployed the EchoBoat 160 Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) with dual-frequency echosounder and RTK GPS, enabling safe, remote surveying of the pond. The EchoBoat’s AutoNAV system executed pre-planned survey routes autonomously, while radio monitoring ensured team safety. The survey delivered precise sludge volume measurements, allowing the client to make informed decisions on pond management and remediation, all without exposing personnel to hazardous conditions.
