T. Baker Smith performed interim surveys on a dock maintenance project at OxyChem’s Ingleside, TX facility. During a routine survey, TBS surveyors detected an object in the data that needed further investigation.
The Solution
Our Creative Approach
Originally, the object was thought to be either noise or something related to the construction effort. When it showed up again in a follow-up survey, it was labeled and reported to the client and contractor as a possible hazard. A side scan sonar survey confirmed it was a significant object. Diving and retrieval showed it to be a crane mat, a significant hazard to navigation.
