The Challenge
As part of a late 1980’s legislative funding package title “TIMED,” LADOTD planned a new four-lane high speed highway from I-12 near Lacombe, LA to Bush, LA in order to serve industry and the community during hurricane evacuations. LADOTD requested professional engineering and related services of TBS to design the northern segment of the new roadway from LA 435 in Talisheek, LA to LA 40/41 in Bush, LA.
The Solution
TBS is serving as the prime consultant for LADOTD on the new LA 3241 from LA 435 to La 40/41, which is a 5.5-mile, four-lane rural arterial divided roadway from Talisheek, LA to Bush, LA. TBS’ segment is the northern portion of the overall 19-mile roadway connecting I-12 near Lacombe, LA to the existing four-lane highway in Bush, LA. TBS utilized its integrated services approach to provide topographic and right-of-way surveys; subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services; roadway design; traffic management plans; bridge design; environmental support; and additional traffic studies. Intersection controls included J-turns and “R-CUT” intersection designs.
