TBS was contracted to provide laser scanning survey services and 3D modeling for the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Safety Bay Project.
The Solution
Our Creative Approach
TBS mobilized a 3-person crew at night from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. to conduct laser scan surveys of the above deck Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge. TBS also arranged for lane closures utilizing Traffic Solutions and arranged for police escort utilizing the Causeway Police. The final laser scan point cloud data was utilized to create a 3D model for engineering design of the safety bays. TBS fabricated an articulating pole that mounted to the survey vehicle to capture laser scan data beyond the handrail underneath the Causeway, allowing for pile and foundation capture.
